Description

W. E. Hill & Sons was regarded as the preeminent violin House of their day. Internationally famous for their expertise, they dealt in the great old master instruments, whilst also producing new instruments, bows and cases of the highest quality.

This bow, stamped “HILL” is typical of their production of the pre-war period, comprising a round pernambuco stick with silver, half mounted ebony frog, the adjuster of ebony sheathed in silver and capped with a pearl eye.

It’s a slightly lighter stick, at 76 gms, and exhibits beautiful balance and draws a responsive, clear, even and consistent tone from both the heavy bass strings and the higher tension treble strings.
