Description

The name “Reichel” comprises a vast number of violin and bow makers, with the familial ties working over probably more than two centuries in Markneukirchen.

Carl Alfred took over the workshop from his father and was a contemporary of August Anton Reichel who was a highly qualified bow maker.

‘Techler’ bows would presumably have been made in a range, as was usual at the time, to suit the demands of the international market.

This particular bow comprises a round stick of first class pernambuco with a silver mounted plain ebony frog and an adjuster fully sheathed in silver. It is a strong, powerful stick producing great volume with a bright edge. It feels naturally stable on the strings and responds well to different pressures and performs all bowings with ease.
