W. E. Hill & Sons, London viola bow, c.1925
A superb early period Hill bow by Edgar Bishop.

Stamped “H & S”, this rare, practically mint condition viola bow comprises a round pernambuco stick with silver mounted ebony frog and the traditional Hill silver adjuster.
Well weighted at 73 gm, it feels light in the hand which speaks to perfect balance, making it very easy to control. It produces a very refined tone with light bowing pressure and responds better to different speeds than increasing pressure, this ‘light touch’ being pretty much a hallmark of Hill bows where quality control was unwaveringly high.
