Description
W. E. Hill & Sons were, in their day, the most important violin house in the world, combining great expertise and a range of instrument making and expert restoration as well as producing consistently fine quality bows.
This bow from the great early 1900 period comprises a round pernambuco stick which is stamped ‘W E H & S’ on the nearside facet of the handle. It has a plain silver mounted ebony frog with an adjuster of ebony sheathed in silver and capped with a pearl eye.
It offers a sweet, polished, refined sound and very consistent bowing for spiccato and sautille. Well balanced and stable on the strings, it has very clear articulation and a beautiful legato and detache tone.
