Description

Michaelangelo, the most highly regarded of this family of makers, worked in his father’s workshop (Reale Puglisi) alongside his brother.  The cello bears the label of the head of the family (Reale) but the cello is signed internally by Michaelangelo.  The body length is normal but it is wider, in the manner of the squat cellos of Montagnana, Gofriller, etc. which contributes to its huge sound.  The back, sides and head are of narrow, regularly flamed maple, the two piece top of medium reed lines; the varnish is of a lovely amber hue with an overall light craquelure.

The cello has a rich, full sound, very open and resonant with a pleasing warmth yet also offering clarity and great projection.

Although a wider model, the cello is comfortable to play.

A very fine professional instrument which is an absolute pleasure to play and listen to.
