Laberte French Violin, Derazey label c.1950

Based on a Golden Period Stradivari model, this violin is typical of the French school of the period, offering clean, crisp workmanship and a powerful, bright sound that carries well. The warm red-brown varnish has a slightly purple dark red shading which was the colour palette favoured by the Derazey workshop.

The Derazey workshop remained active long after the death of Honore and Justin Derazey. As a famous and successful workshop, it was integrated into and run by the equally successful trade firm of Laberte et Magnie in Mirecourt. Derazey labels continued to be used for instruments made in the workshop style for many years.

In virtually mint condition, it has its original rosewood pegs and has been fitted up in our workshop using Evah Pirazzi strings. It would be suitable for the advanced or advancing student.
