Malcolm Collins New Zealand 15″ Viola, 2016
Based on his personal model featuring a wide outline for maximum resonance, Malcolm’s viola has a great voice for a smaller instrument making it ideal for the young professional. The golden coloured varnish is of his own make using the fossilised resin of the New Zealand Kauri Pine, a rare and highly valued resin for varnish making.
Malcolm Collins is one of New Zealand’s leading violin makers, working in the Hutt Valley near Wellington in the North Island.
The instrument retains the maker’s original bridge and soundpost and is fitted with Larsen strings.
