Paul Agar Australian Violin, 2015

Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu, the 18th century Italian master is the source of inspiration for this violin. It has a lovely two piece back and two-piece top of straight grained spruce and warm brown varnish. Paul also occasionally works with Stradivari models and is a keen acoustician, following the plate tuning methods proposed by Savart, Hutchins et.al. that most professional makers now study.

Paul Agar is an industrial chemist from Melbourne whose complete dedication to the art of violin making over the past twenty years is inspiring. He is often to be seen at violin making professional development meetings and is well known to most of the professional makers in Australia.

Fitted up by the maker with Evah Pirazzi strings, this violin sounds well above its asking price and represents terrific value for money for the advanced student.
