Description

This is a carefully executed copy of an 1898 Leandro Bisiach violin from Alex’s old workshop in Kent by English maker Ian Highfield, who originally worked in fine arts (sculpture and painting) and was involved in making and restoring string instruments since the late 1970s. His interests lay mainly in copying the models of the great masters and in the recreation of 18th and 19th century varnishes.

This violin is powerful, leaning towards a dark warm sound rather than being overly bright. It is evenly balanced and responds quickly to the bow, this sensitivity makes it an ideal instrument for orchestral and chamber music.
