Paul Agar violin, Melbourne 2003

Paul Agar was born in Melbourne in 1954, his university degrees in Chemistry and Fine Arts primed him well for his later discovery of violin making, a craft to which he has been tremendously committed for nearly 20 years.

This violin is an 'antiqued' copy of 'The Cannon' violin by Guarneri Del Gesu which was the violin Paganini played throughout his career.

It exhibits a quick sound response and articulation; also a quick response to different dynamics. It has a rich resonance that projects well and is powerful, deep and very well balanced across the strings.
