Description

One of Australia’s finest luthiers, Rainer is a multi-award-winning maker, whose work is becoming increasingly recognised and revered both in Australia and abroad – particularly in regards to his cellos.

This beautiful cello has a two piece slab cut back with flamed figure ascending from the centre joint; the sides and head are of similar highly flamed wood, and the top is a book-matched two piece set of finest tone wood, all covered in an amber shade of varnish laid over a golden ground.

The model is Rainer’s own interpretation of the Gofriller / Montagnana Venetian school cellos, with full, wide upper bouts that are recognised for their big, full sound.

The sound is bright, rich and very focused. It has beautiful clarity even on the lower strings with a wonderful multilayered, textured sound.

The sound is firm and punchy with great projection and remains even, clear and burnished throughout the range. It is extremely easy to play in all registers. The very quick response to the bow makes playing faster passages trouble free, altogether, very comfortable to play.

A really fantastic instrument for the advanced student or professional cellist who needs the best!
