Francisco Gonzalez, Cello Bow, Spain 2023

A beautiful new silver mounted cello bow by Francisco Gonzalez, stamped “Gonzalez . Madrid” on the near side facet of the handle and “F. Gonzalez” on the lower facet under the frog. The bow, made in Francisco’s personal style, comprises a fine pernambuco stick with silver mounted ebony frog which is decorated with pearl eyes; the lapping of silver; the three piece adjuster of silver/ebony/silver; capped with a pearl eye; the faceplate of mammoth ivory.

Francisco Gonzalez is a highly regarded bow maker and restorer based in Madrid, Spain where he also acts as curator of the fabulous Stradivari quartet of instruments held at the museum of the Royal Palace. Francisco is also the Spanish delegate to the committee of the Entente Internationale des Luthiers et Archetiers (EILA).

This is a strong and evenly balanced bow, producing a lovely big sound, which would suit the advanced or advancing student and would also be ideal for a professional player.
