Laberte-Humbert H. Clotelle French Violin, 1891
A typically good quality French violin from the Mirecourt school, excellent condition with nice crisp workmanship and a clear, bright sound which projects well.
‘H. Clotelle’ was one of the trade names owned by the Laberte-Humbert workshop. This was one of the largest and most important workshops in Mirecourt, originally founded in the late 1700’s. Laberte Freres as it was also known, was active well into the 20th century, joining with Fournier Magnie around 1925, becoming Laberte et Magnie, and continuing the great French tradition.
