Martin Schuster Australian Violin, Melbourne 2020
A graduate of the famous Newark Violin Making School in the U.K., Martin worked in the Netherlands and Germany before setting up his workshop in Melbourne, where he now dedicates his time to making new instruments in both modern and baroque styles.
This violin is modelled on the work of the great Italian master, Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu. It has a beautifully flamed two-piece back of medium flamed maple with the figure ascending from the centre. The ribs and head are of similar wood and it has a top-quality spruce top plate; the varnish is of a warm orange-brown laid over a golden ground in a complex faux-antique pattern.
A beautiful violin, both in appearance and sound production, it would be suitable for the advanced student, young professional or dedicated amateur musician
