R. Weichold German Violin Bow, c.1890

A superb, round Pernambuco bow with classic plain silver mounted frog. This slim bow is very stylish, responsive, and performs brilliantly. The best Weichold bows such as this are very highly regarded.

Richard Weichold learned violin making as an apprentice of C.G.Pfretzschner before joining his father’s shop which he took over on the latter’s death. He built a very successful bow making enterprise in Dresden, not only employing a large number of bowmakers making a wide range of bows, but buying in completed bows from some of the finest bow makers in Germany which were subsequently stamped with the Weichold trade stamps.
