Collin-Mezin French Violin Bow, c.1910

A light coloured, silver mounted French violin bow stamped ‘Collin-Mezin. Paris’ attributed to the Bazin workshop from the early 1900’s.

Ch. B. Collin-Mezin was an award-winning Parisian violin maker, famous in his own lifetime for high quality instruments. He was not a recognised bow maker but bought in bows from fine French archetiers for sale through his workshop. The bow is recognisably from the Bazin workshop and would have been from the period between 1900 and 1910, this is a time of change in the workshop when Charles Nicolas Bazin, questionably the most important bow maker of his generation, was close to retirement and ready to hand the workshop over to his son Charles Louis.
