L. Bazin Workshop French Cello Bow, c.1925

This unstamped cello bow has been attributed to the workshop of Louis Bazin, Mirecourt, and is characteristic of the output of this master French workshop. It features a pure black plain ebony frog with silver mounts.

Charles Louis Bazin, to give him his full name, studied bow making under his father, Charles Nicolas, eventually taking over the running of the workshop. This was a big workshop by any standards, employing several excellent craftsmen and producing a range of models to suit demand. He produced bows for a number of influential firms many of which would have been left unstamped to accommodate the sellers brand.
