Oskar Heinel worked in the town of Markneukirchen where he produced a fine range of not only modern instruments but viols, viola d’amore, etc. This violin from 1922 is precision-made and exhibits a warm, shaded, faux-antique varnish.

It is a darkish sounding violin with good projection and sound articulation. Full overtones response across the entire range and evenly balanced strings make for easy playability.
