French trade violin labelled ‘Nicola Genari’ c.1920

‘Nicola Genari’ are high end French trade instruments of the Mirecourt school, probably by one of the iterations of the Labert workshop. These large workshops produced a range of instruments to suit varying player’s needs, the best being of impressively high quality.

This Stradivari inspired violin has a beautiful two-piece maple back plate with the figure descending from the centre joint; the sides and head of similarly attractive wood; the top plate of two pieces of straight grained spruce all covered in a light golden-brown varnish; the length of the body is 359mm.

A lovely French violin in fantastic condition which could be a perfect lifetime instrument for the advancing or advanced student.
