English Gold Mounted Violin Bow by James Tubbs, c. 1880

A very good condition, violin bow made by James Tubbs in London around 1880. Tubbs bows in general are highly sought after for their consistently high quality. Born in 1835, he was to become the most influential of member of a large, inter-generational family of makers.

This violin bow has a gold mounted round Pernambuco stick with an ebony frog which is decorated with pearl eyes; the adjuster of ebony fully sheathed in gold; the faceplate of gold.
