French Cello Bow, Stamped F. Jacquot Nancy c.1930

The ‘Jacquot’ name was used on bows made by several illustrious French bow makers, this one in particular having a poker-straight, round Pernambuco stick with attractive swan head which has a small extension at the very tip.

Bows stamped with the initial “F”, were made by Marie-Louis Piernot who was a pupil of Charles Bazin.  Piernot was a highly regarded maker who worked for some of the top violin and bow makers of the period, eventually establishing his own workshop in Paris.
